Château de Chenonceau (1h30mn drive drom Chambord)
Château de Chenonceau is located in the center Val de Loire region, and was once a royal residence as property of the crown. It is a truly exceptional site, both for its original idea of building it on the Cher river, and for its destiny: to be loved, managed, and protected by women such as Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici. Today, the château of Chenonceau is second only to Versailles as the most visited château in France.
Château of Clos Lucé (30mn drive from Chenonceau)
The final abode of Leonardo da Vinci, the chateau of the Clos Lucé just 500 meters from the Royal château at the heart of the Loire Valley in Amboise. Both the park and the château are devoted to rebuilding the universe of Leonardo da Vinci and bringing it to life.
Please Note that it is possible to combine this full day tour with different stops for wine tasting, but the timing is short: you may replace one of the sites above with wine cellar visit or you may spend 2 days at the Loire Valley.
